Why Alfonso Ribeiro Has Been A Good Addition To Dancing With The Stars

With the move to Disney+, Alfonso Riberio has joined the DWTS ballroom as Tyra Banks’ co-host. There are many reasons why he’s been a good addition.

Alfonso Riberio has been a great addition to the Dancing With The Stars season 31 ballroom. Although this is his first time hosting, Alfonso is no stranger to the show. He competed in DWTS season 19 back in 2014. Alfonso and his former pro partner Witney Carson took home the Mirror Ball Trophy that year.

Now that there are once again two hosts in the ballroom, Alfonso has aided in the return of the DWTS skybox. Following a performance, the dancing duo will head up to the skybox, where Alfonso asks them a few questions regarding their week of rehearsals. This has allowed the show to somewhat return to its original format from when Tom and Erin hosted DWTS, who was replaced. Although he has made a few mistakes this season; however, Alfonso has also brought much joy and laughter to DWTS fans.

With Alfonso now taking care of the post-performance interviews, it limits Tyra’s screen time. Since joining the show, longtime DWTS viewers have not been the biggest fans of Tyra. Before this season, Tyra would engage in short conversations and interviews with the dancing duos prior to them receiving their scores. Fans felt Tyra would sometimes make the show all about herself. Now Tyra has very little time to communicate with the dancers and stars following their performance. In addition to Alfonso joining, has also helped alleviate Tyra’s unnecessary outfit changes throughout DWTS.

In July, it was announced that Alfonso would become Tyra Banks’ co-host. This is Tyra’s third season hosting DWTS after she replaced longtime host Tom Bergeron and his co-host, Erin Andrews. Alfonso’s addition to the show was not the only change brought on this season. After airing on ABC since the show’s start in 2005, DWTS has moved to Disney+. This is the first time a live show has aired on a streaming service. With the elimination of commercials, Alfonso was brought on to help Tyra host and fill the gap where commercials would usually be.

While it may not be the same as when Tom and Erin co-hosted the show together, Alfonso, who trashed The Bachelor franchise, joining the DWTS ballroom has been a positive addition to the show. He has not only brought laughter, but Alfonso has also taken the shine off of Tyra, which many viewers are happy about. Going into his new hosting gig, Alfonso had plans to make changes, and since joining Dancing With The Stars, he has done just that.
