New fan art depicts what Harrison Ford could look like as Thunderbolt Ross in the MCU, following recent reports of his casting as the character.
New fan art is picturing what Harrison Ford could look like as Thunderbolt Ross in Marvel’s upcoming Thunderbolts movie. Having already starred in two of the most iconic film franchises of all time with Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Ford’s rumored casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has fans excited. Thunderbolts was confirmed back in July and is expected to begin filming next year, with Jake Schreier helming the production and Black Widow‘s Eric Pearson working on the script. Part of the MCU’s Phase Five, the film is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2024.
Like the comics, Thunderbolts will follow a group of antiheroes recruited to carry out missions for the government. Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are all set to reprise their previous Marvel roles. One character left out of the film, who fans anticipated might appear in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, was Red Hulk, otherwise known as General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross. A military officer obsessed with taking down the Hulk, Ross underwent his own transformation, eventually turning himself into a suitable rival. He later assembled a version of the Thunderbolts that included characters like Deadpool and Ghost Rider.

Is Harrison Ford Joining The MCU?
Speculation surrounding Ford’s involvement in the MCU began in September, with reports indicating that he would take over William Hurt’s role as Thaddeus Ross. Hurt portrayed the recurring character in several films, last seen in 2021’s Black Widow, but the actor passed away earlier this year. Ford will reportedly make his debut in Captain America: New World Order, currently set to hit theaters on May 3, 2024, just months before the release of Thunderbolts.
The inclusion of Ford, whose career spans multiple decades, would only increase the anticipation for Marvel’s future movies and this recent fan art gives audiences an exciting peek at what he might look like. It may also suggest that Thaddeus Ross is being set up to play more of a prominent role down the line, especially if the theories concerning him becoming Red Hulk are true. Fans hoping to see the actor step into the MCU through films like Thunderbolts can look forward to more news as it comes out.
