She-Hulk: Attorney at Law director Kat Coiro talks about the possibility of doing a follow-up movie focusing on the Hulk family. The introduction of She-Hulk in the MCU has been a long time coming. Ever since The Incredible Hulk and its credits sequence’s promise of more things to come, questions arose over whether audiences would get to see Bruce Banner’s supporting characters and villains show up in the interweaving franchise. While it would take nearly fifteen years for it to happen, She-Hulk finally made the leap from comics to live-action with her own television series on Disney+ starring Tatiana Maslany.

Throughout the MCU, Hulk has played more of a supporting role due to licensing issues with Universal not allowing him to have another solo film. Marvel Studios has managed to work around this by adapting portions of his comic stories such as “Planet Hulk” in Thor: Ragnarok, introducing his half-alien son Skaar in the last episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and featuring Samuel Sterns’ transformation into the Leader in the upcoming Captain America: New World Order. Some outlets have claimed that Universal’s holding on the Hulk could potentially expire in 2023, resulting in the possibility of adapting more Hulk stories in the MCU, but so far there has been no confirmation on the subject.

Regardless of Hulk’s availability, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law director Kat Coiro has opened up on what she would like to see in future MCU projects. In an interview with ComicBook, Coiro expresses hope at bringing back Bruce and Jennifer Walters in another Hulk-centric project somewhere down the line. She says:

I said this in the beginning, and I still stand by this — one of my favorite things about the whole series is the chemistry between Tatiana and Mark, and their kind of sibling, big brother/little sister dynamic. And I think bringing that to the big screen would be a no brainer.

She-Hulk’s Ending Opens Up Hulk Family Possibilities

Hulk’s appearance in film and television has not been an easy one. Aside from two divisive movies, the Hulk hasn’t received a solo project of his own since the start of the MCU. However, the franchise has begun to signal that this could be changing very soon. With Skaar and She-Hulk now populating the MCU, Marvel Studios seems more interested now in delving into Bruce’s life outside of the Avengers.

The introduction of Skaar at the end of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law opens the door for more Hulk stories and shows that Marvel is now willing to dive deeper into his area of the MCU. While the team over at Marvel Studios never let loose what they have in store, seeing Hulk, She-Hulk and Skaar together is an indication that major changes are ahead. Until confirmation of a new Hulk project occurs, audiences can only wonder what is next for the superhero and his extended, and ever-increasing, family.
