With a new season of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Ashley Darby is sharing why she has been so guarded about sharing details about her divorce.
Ashley Darby is setting the record straight when it comes to her divorce from Michael Darby and how it will play out on the newest season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. The former couple is eight months into their separation, with fans learning during the premiere that they are buying a home together. Michael was always a divisive character, with followers wondering how it will all play out.
RHOP fans may be surprised to learn that Ashley contemplated not participating in the new season of the hit series. Due to the circumstances going on in her own life, the mother of two didn’t know if it was worth putting her personal life under the microscope once again. Ashley opened up, telling Screen Rant that she felt “guarded” about the idea of putting herself out there emotionally and mentally, especially after a rough last season that showed her still having issues with Candiace Dillard Basset and Michael once again straying from their relationship. Along with trying to preserve her own character, Ashley also didn’t want to put Michael through all the brouhaha again.
Ashley Darby Is Ready To Share The Good And The Bad
Fans of RHOP have Karen Huger, Gizelle Bryant, and Robyn Dixon to thank for Ashley’s appearance, as they were the women who lent the most support. Ashley shared with fans that Gizelle, who is also divorced and a single mother, emphasized how therapeutic participating in the show would be for the former beauty queen. While Ashley has her good days and her bad days overall, she is happy to have the separation documented.
Ashley revealed that Michael and she have a “really great co-parenting relationship” and still live together. The couple has a vested interest in both their sons having the best life possible. While they may no longer want to be man and wife, Ashley shared that overall it makes her happy that Michael was the person she “ultimately decided to have a family with.” Understandably, Michael will be noticeably absent from the new season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. Ashley originally signed up for the show with Michael as her partner, not knowing it would lead her down this road. Fans first met the couple while they were in their honeymoon phase after just walking down the aisle.
Even though Ashley will have to navigate the Real Housewives waters alone, fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac are thrilled to see her standing back under the cherry blossoms. Ashley was just in attendance at BravoCon where Andy Cohen tried his best to play matchmaker. The king of Bravo decided to set Ashley and Luke Gulbranson up. Currently, the two have texted a little bit, but it is possible for another crossover between the two stars if a love match happens to work out.
