After his Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo, Emily Blunt wants to see more of John Krasinski’s Reed Richards in the MCU.

Emily Blunt is hoping to see John Krasinski as Fantastic Four‘s Reed Richards again in the MCU. The real-life couple have been the top fan-pick to play Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman in the upcoming Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four reboot film. Slated to release in early 2025, the project has WandaVision’s Matt Shakman as its director, but aside from these details, no other official information has been released about the much-anticipated blockbuster.

Since Marvel Studios has been mum on the casting process for Fantastic Four, fans continue to share their choices to play Marvel’s First Family in the MCU. Several reports have claimed to reveal Kevin Feige and his team’s shortlist for the superhero team, which includes You‘s Penn Badgley as Reed Richards and Jodie Comer as Sue Storm. Amid these, Krasinski and Blunt continue to lead the pack as the public’s choice to headline the new Fantastic Four. But while Blunt signing on for the role is a little more uncertain, her husband as Reed Richards isn’t that too farfetched, since he already played Earth-838 Mister Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Krasinski’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness appearance was rather short. He was part of Earth 838’s Illuminati, who ended up being ruthlessly massacred by Wanda Maximoff. Despite his death, Blunt expresses her interest in seeing Krasinski as Mister Fantastic again in a new interview with HeyUGuys (via The Direct). Read her full quote below:

I was really happy for him because I think he’s a huge fan. And I understand why it’s such an ardent passionate religion for people. It’s a huge part of our cinematic history now. So he was thrilled… Well, I hope [we can see him in the role again]. I hope so. You never know.

Can Krasinski Really Return As The MCU’s Reed Richards?

Despite Krasinski’s Reed Richards death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it would be fairly easy to bring him back for the Fantastic Four film. Thanks to the concept of variants and the burgeoning multiverse, Marvel Studios can introduce the Sacred Timeline’s version of Reed Richards, who looks exactly like Earth-838’s, but with a different fate and even origin story. Given the scarcity of information regarding Shakman’s film, it’s still difficult to gauge how exactly the franchise is approaching Marvel’s First Family. They may opt to go for a much younger version of the superhero team, knowing that they will play a major role in the universe moving forward. But it’s nice to know that if ever Feige and Shakman decide to bring back Krasinski in the role, there’s a simple way to do it.

For now, it’s best for everyone to wait for Marvel Studios’ official announcement as to who will play Mister Fantastic and the rest of the Fantastic Four in the MCU. Despite the clamor from fans, and even Blunt herself, to see Krasinski back as Reed Richards, the franchise is known to go against the popular choices when casting their characters, instead choosing whoever they see as the best actor for the role. The good thing is, if Marvel Studios ends up going a different route for its main iteration of the beloved hero, there’s always a way to bring back Krasinski anyway as another variant of the character.
