Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Says That Running For President Is “Off The Table”

Like many beloved American actors before him, one question seems to have surrounded Dwayne in recent years: Will he ever run for President of the United States?

Well, he recently addressed the possibility in a new interview, and it’s not looking great for anyone wanting to see him on the ballot any time soon.

While sitting down with CBS Sunday Morning, Dwayne explained that running for president is “off the table” for him.

Actor and international star Dwayne @TheRock Johnson has been seriously talked about as a potential candidate for president – and it was talk he didn’t outright dismiss – until now. Johnson tells @thattracysmith he is ruling out a run for president & more this “Sunday Morning.”

The actor and former WWE star explained that, even though he loves “our country and everyone in it,” he also loves “being a daddy.”

Dwayne said that it’s especially important for him to focus on parenting “especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives.”

“Because I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years for my first daughter’s growing up, [at] this critical age at this critical time in her life. And that’s what the presidency will do.”

“So my No. 1 priority is my daughters. Sure, CEO sounds great, but the No. 1 thing I want to be is daddy. That’s it.”

The answer he gave was a bit of a pivot from what he last said about running for president.

Last year, he told People that it would be an “honor” to serve as president after 46% of respondents in a poll said they would support him running.

“I’m not a politician nor did I ever have political passions,” he said. “But when 46 percent of Americans say they’re in favor of me becoming president, that forces me to humbly and respectfully stand up, listen, and learn.”

So time will tell whether he’s made his mind up for good.
