An impressive NSFW piece of Deadpool 3 fan art imagines a very bloody confrontation between Ryan Reynolds’ hero and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
As buzz continues to build for Deadpool 3, some new NSFW fan art imagines Wolverine landing a bloody blow against Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth. Although Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool technically made his debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, the current iteration of the character was introduced in 2016’s Deadpool. The success of the first film led to the release of Deadpool 2 soon after, with work on a third film later delayed in part due to Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Now, however, Deadpool 3 will finally see the hero join the MCU in 2024, with Free Guy and The Adam Project director Shawn Levy attached to helm the project.
Story details regarding Deadpool 3 remain scarce, but it was recently confirmed, much to the surprise of many fans, that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be making a return in the upcoming film. Jackman played the role for close to 20 years across a number of X-Men films and standalone entries before seemingly saying farewell to Wolverine with 2017’s Logan. A number of questions remain about how exactly Jackman’s Wolverine will return in Deadpool 3, and the two stars recently took to social media to jokingly offer an explanation to fans while not actually revealing much of anything.
Now, a new piece of Deadpool 3 fan art from SPDRMNKYXXXIII on Instagram imagines what the dynamic between Ryan Reynolds’ hero and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine might look like. The NSFW art sees Deadpool humorously decapitated and depicts Wolverine rocking a more comics-accurate yellow suit, which Jackman never wore throughout his time playing the character. Check out the bloody fan art below:
Why Deadpool & Wolverine Are The Perfect MCU Team-Up
As highlighted in the fan art, the fact that Wolverine and Deadpool share a healing ability makes them a very interesting duo. Both characters are able to regenerate from almost any wound they sustain, no matter how serious, which opens up a number of exciting possibilities. Wolverine and Deadpool are also very different in terms of their personalities, meaning a clash between the two at some point is basically inevitable. With their healing abilities, this clash can be exceedingly bloody and brutal, taking full advantage of Deadpool 3‘s R-rating, while also presenting some unique moments for comedy.
It remains to be seen what the dynamic between Wolverine and Deadpool will be in the upcoming film, but Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has already weighed in and expressed his hope for a violent road-trip-style buddy comedy. Deadpool 3 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have already confirmed that the film will very much be rated R like the previous 2 installments, meaning a bloody Deadpool beheading might not be off the table. Unfortunately, the release date for Deadpool 3 remains over two years away, meaning fans still have a long time to wait before seeing the duo on screen together.
