Daredevil star Charlie Cox says he wants Iron Fist’s Colleen Wing, played by Jessica Henwick, back in the MCU following his own return.
Following his own recent return to the franchise, Daredevil‘s Charlie Cox expresses his hopes for Iron Fist‘s Colleen Wing to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cox previously led the Netflix show centered on the blind vigilante in Hell’s Kitchen, which helped launch the streaming platform’s interconnected shows including Iron Fist, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Defenders. The shows were loosely connected to the larger MCU, with subtle references made to the Chitauri attack on New York City, Thor, Iron Man, and more.
Jessica Henwick brought Colleen Wing to life in Iron Fist, playing a supporting role for Finn Jones’ titular character, meeting Danny Rand through her Chinatown dojo and helping him in his fight against The Hand. Following appearances in The Defenders and Luke Cage season 2, Colleen would properly return for Iron Fist season 2, tracking down Danny’s former brother Davos, while also looking into the history of her sword. The end of the season saw Danny elect to give up the Iron Fist moniker, with Colleen subsequently gaining his powers in the same vein as her ancestor, the first woman to defeat the dragon Shou-Loa.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss his role in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Charlie Cox was asked whether he wants to see Iron Fist‘s Colleen Wing back in the MCU. The Daredevil actor was enthusiastic in his hopes to not only see her return, but also his fellow Netflix Marvel stars, and humorously stated he would put in a good word for them with Marvel. See what Cox said below:
Yeah, she’s amazing. She’s amazing. Look, I agree with you, wholeheartedly. I could also say that about a number of people that I worked with not only on Daredevil, but also on the other shows we did there. So I don’t know what they’re thinking, but I will absolutely put in a good word. And you’re 100 percent right about that. [Jessica] is awesome. And I did get a lovely text from her the other day saying that she read the news and was thrilled for me.
How Colleen Can Return To MCU
Though Iron Fist was by no means the best-received title in Netflix’s MCU roster, reception towards Henwick’s Colleen Wing remained largely favorable through her various appearances, namely with season 2’s ending seeing her become the new Iron Fist. Given the Iron Fist’s ties to Shang-Chi, recently introduced to the MCU with Simu Liu’s hero of the same name, many have begun to wonder whether she or Jones’ Danny Rand will return to the fold for the in-development Shang-Chi 2. Jones himself has expressed his interest to not only see his character make his way back to the MCU, but namely wants to see Colleen crossover with Shang-Chi sometime in the future.
Interestingly, Henwick was considered for an MCU return with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, though would ultimately turn it down in favor of starring in The Matrix Resurrections. With Henwick’s star profile continuing to rise thanks to the likes of Netflix’s The Gray Man, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe taking great strides in diversity with its roster of characters, one can hope that Iron Fist‘s Colleen Wing gets another shot on to carry on the heroic mantle at some point in the future. In the meantime, audiences can revisit Henwick’s tenure as Colleen with all of the Marvel Netflix shows now streaming on Disney+.
