Bandido made a lot of new fans during his main event match against Chris Jericho on Dynamite. So much so that AEW offered him a contract on the spot.
Bandido made his AEW debut on September 28, and if reports are accurate, his performance against Chris Jericho might have changed the trajectory of his wrestling career. The 27-year-old tore the house down with The Ocho, attempting to reclaim the ROH Championship—a title he previously held. Bandido came up short in his quest for championship gold but might have earned himself a contract from AEW in the process.
A viral video following Wednesday Night Dynamite showed All Elite Wrestling owner and co-founder Tony Khan embracing Bandido at the top of the ramp. The two embraced, with the wrestler hoisting Khan into the air for a few moments. The enthusiasm apparently carried over backstage, with AEW reportedly offering Bandido a new deal on the spot.

Dave Meltzer reported the following in the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter: “While we don’t have confirmation that Bandido has signed with AEW, we do have confirmation that he was offered a full-time contract immediately after his performance in the loss to Chris Jericho on 9/28 in Philadelphia.”
Bandido Might Struggle To Stand Out In AEW
Bandido made his debuts for Impact and MLW this year and has worked the independent scene while also taking matches with AAA. North American fans familiar with him likely recall his standout matches in ROH and PWG, the latter of which he’s been a world champion for. As solid as his match with Jericho was, it might be difficult for Bandido to wrestle consistently for AEW if he decides to sign the reported offer. All Elite Wrestling is stacked with high work rate performers who have gotten lost in the shuffle over the last several months. Tony Khan continues to be aggressive in acquiring as much talent as possible, even when he doesn’t have things for them to do on Dynamite or Rampage.
Juice Robinson also made his debut for the company on September 28, and AEW is reportedly interested in having the Bullet Club member on television whenever possible. With unhappy wrestlers such as Andrade El Idolo being left with short backstage segments instead of matches, it’s not too difficult to see Bandido getting lost in the shuffle of All Elite Wrestling. That’s not a commentary on his skills. He’s gotten over wherever he’s gone and would be a real blue chipper for Tony Khan. There’s an ongoing struggle to get everyone who deserves TV time onto weekly television, though. Let alone with consistent on-screen storytelling backing them up. Bandido obviously needs to do whatever he deems best for himself and his career. There’s a real worry that he’ll struggle to find consistent AEW air time if he does end up inking the alleged deal.
