Following the release of Andor episode 6, fans have taken to social media to share their excitement and happiness for the return of peak Star Wars. Set five years before the Battle of Yavin in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the latest entry into the long-running science-fiction fantasy franchise centers on Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a battle-hardened spy who leads the Rebel Alliance to their first major victory against the Empire in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The new Disney+ series serves as a prequel to the film and chronicles Cassian’s rise within the Rebellion as it develops into the organized force as seen in the original Star Wars trilogy.
Episode 6 finds Cassian and the small Rebel faction set their heist plan in motion on the planet Aldhani. As Vel Sartha (Faye Marsay) and Cinta Kaz (Varada Sethu) infiltrate the Imperial garrison from underwater, Cassian, Karis Nemek (Alex Lawther), Arvel Skeen (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Taramyn Barcona (Gershwyn Eustache Jnr) don Imperial disguises and march through the front door. In an episode filled with suspense, action, and high-flying spectacle, Cassian and crew managed to succeed in their mission, although incurring heavy losses.
Following the release of Andor episode 6, fans have taken to social media to celebrate the return of peak Star Wars. Andor Is Setting A New Standard For Star Wars TV Shows
The show clearly resonated with fans with many calling it a return to form following the mixed reception of The Book of Boba Fett and Kenobi. Instead of focusing on the Jedi and the allure of the Force, the series highlights the people caught in the middle of the Galactic civil war and what they will do when their backs are up against the wall. Andor episode 6 showcases the desperation of the people of Aldhani with Vel and her crew taking on the Empire while the planet’s inhabitants travel a great distance by foot to celebrate a sacred natural phenomenon.
Created by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story writer and Academy Award nominee, Tony Gilroy, Andor was developed with the intention to show a side of the Star Wars universe never seen before. The writer intends to take the audience to different corners of the franchise to experience a narrative centered on people over fantasy. With the series filmed on real sets and real locations as opposed to primarily using the popular StageCraft LED Volume, used in productions for all other Star Wars live-action television series, Andor creates a sense of immersion fans may have not felt in decades.
