Mahogany Roca from 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days is under fire once again after fans accused her of another major photoshopping fail on Instagram. Mahogany had been on a social media hiatus ever since Before the 90 Days season 5 aired. Season 5 followed 52-year-old, Ben Rathbun, as he traveled to Peru to meet the mysterious Mahogany. However, 90 Day Fiancé viewers grew suspicious of Mahogany and her intentions after she refused to meet Ben on several occasions, even though he traveled a great distance to meet her. When Mahogany eventually showed up, she did not look like the heavily edited photos she had sent Ben. Although Mahogany had not been totally honest about her appearance, the pair were able to repair their relationship and announced their engagement in August 2022.
Mahogany and Ben received an overwhelming number of negative comments and criticism as their season aired, which caused them both to deactivate their social media accounts. After a 17-week absence from Instagram, Mahogany has zealously returned to the platform posting over eight times in two days. One photo, in particular, is receiving unwanted attention for what appears to be a blatant Photoshop fail. The post in question is a now-deleted selfie of Mahogany wearing a low-cut white top. While the entire image looks edited, or as if it has a filter, the editing mishap is an obvious distortion and blur over her hair and breast.
90 Day Fiancé’s Mahogany Tried To Enlarge Breasts With Photo Editing
Apps like Facetune allow users to stretch or shrink an image to make their appearance more flattering. However, using this feature in an exaggerated way like Mahogany did when she attempted to create larger breasts will create a blatant blur. Followers were quick to comment on this social media snafu with one user stating, “Is the lower half of this photo a cartoon?” Another user replied to the comment saying, “When you try to photo shop big boobs 😂.” It is important to note that the caption of the photo includes “#new” which may be referencing the doctored breast size. Another 90 Day Fiancé viewer was quick to call out the differences between Mahogany’s social media presence versus how she was on the show commenting, “…she’s such a phony. Now she’s online in provocative poses and on the show she was too shy to talk.”
Photoshopping images and using filters are common in the social media age. However, celebrities and reality TV stars quickly get confronted when their editing contains a mistake or is too obvious. Mahogany may receive more criticism than others who alter their photos because every image on her Instagram account has some degree of editing. Additionally, when viewers first met the 90 Day Fiancé alum there was an air of suspicion surrounding her due to her flightiness with Ben and the fact that she looked so different from her photos. Still, Ben was able to immediately move past the catfishing and accept the real Mahogany.
Before the 90 Days fans are not as forgiving, and their initial conceptions of Mahogany may be contributing to some of the harsher online comments she is still receiving. She continues to doctor her photos despite followers knowing what she truly looks like. The 90 Day Fiancé star’s break from social media came amid an onslaught of unkind words from the public. Perhaps her time away from Instagram helped her learn how to not be affected by negative comments. If this is not the case, she may want to refine her photo editing skills to avoid this type of scrutiny in the future.
