TikTok may be facing a hefty fine related to a UK security probe on children’s privacy and data. TikTok is one of the most used social media apps in the world, but it’s not without its controversy. Doja Cat also has a very active presence on social media and continues to use it to brand herself. Since going viral, she has had seven songs reach the top 20 on the charts. The talent was always there, but she needed a platform to promote it.
Walker Hayes
While Walker Hayes had already been a recognizable name on the country music scene for a few years at this point, it was in 2021 that he broke into the mainstream with “Fancy Like,” an undeniable earworm that was perfect for TikTok. The song reached the top 10 on the pop music charts and immediately made Hayes one of the biggest country stars in the world.
Hayes’s follow-up single, the much more serious “AA,” also hit the top 40, showing some staying power on his part. While he was already successful, TikTok got him through the country bubble and made him recognizable around the world due to his catchy chorus.
Jack Harlow
Jack Harlow immediately became a household name with “What’s Poppin?” a song that has been used in countless videos on TikTok. It charted very well and led to Harlow’s immediate success. A big brand deal and huge hype for his follow-up album followed immediately after.
Harlow just released one of the highest-selling albums of the year. In addition, he landed a promotional deal with KFC and has appeared on numerous talk shows. Without TikTok, Harlow would not have become the industry darling he is today.

Indie band Beach Bunny went viral in 2019 after their song “Prom Queen” became a surprise hit on the popular app. This led to the band getting a record deal and releasing their first album. The album was acclaimed and the band is still touring and releasing new music.
While Beach Bunny did not become overnight pop stars, they are a band with a committed fan base and recognition. The song going viral changed their trajectory, as it got them a record deal and exposed them to a wider audience. Now, they can continue to expand musically.
Olivia Rodrigo
Rodrigo was already well known as a Disney child star, but her song, “Driver’s Licence,” going viral in 2021 made her known to everyone in the world. It also led to huge anticipation for her upcoming album, which ended up topping the charts. Now, she is one of the biggest faces in pop music.
Rodrigo already had a nice acting career due to her work with Disney, but TikTok helped her expand her career beyond this. People who had never watched her on TV also became huge fans. With numerous songs hitting the top 10, her acting career going strong, and a documentary about Rodrigo and her rise to fame, the star looks to be around for a while.

Dixie is a bit of a different situation. She’s a huge influencer on TikTok who used her fame to get a record deal in 2020. As a result, she has worked with people like Wiz Khalifa and has made a second career for herself.
The D’Amelio’s have been famous on TikTok for a long time and became household names because of it. While she has not had the same success as an influencer, D’Amelio still has found a fanbase and collaborated with a big artist due to her fame on TikTok.

Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” became a big hit two years after it was originally released due to its first line being so recognizable from TokTok. The song became a sleeper hit, reaching the top of the Billboard charts. More hits were soon to follow.
Now, Lizzo is a name synonymous with the industry and constantly makes the news when she releases a new song. TikTok helped her find an audience for a song that had been released over two years prior and helped her build a career off of it.

No one could have seen an Italian rock band’s five-year-old cover of a song from the ’60s go viral. But, due to TikTok, that’s just happened for Måneskin, whose cover of Frankie Valli’s “Beggin” ended up dominating the global charts right after the band won 2021’s Eurovision.
While the band was well known in their home country, this helped make them internationally known. The band still uses the app to promote new songs, so perhaps they’ll have another viral hit coming in the upcoming years.
Megan Thee Stallion
Megan Thee Stallion nearly hit the top 10 with “Hot Girl Summer,” but finally hit it with “Savage” after the song went viral on TikTok. Following that up with another string of viral songs and a collaboration on a very controversial song with Cardi B, and Megan is now one of the biggest names in music.
If history teaches anything, it is that people who know how to market themselves have the most success. Megan Thee Stallion is a brilliant businesswoman who looks to have a brilliant career in the entertainment world.
